  • A Unique Campus Locale

The George Washington University is a diverse institution of higher learning located in the historic Foggy Bottom community, where the city's attractions are never too far away. The State Department, the World Bank, and numerous embassies border campus. We are a short walk to the White House and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a Metro ride to the National Zoo and Arlington National Cemetery, and a quick jaunt to the monuments and Georgetown. One can view artwork at GW's own Dimock Gallery or one of the many other museums nearby. The University fields nationally-ranked, Division I athletic teams. The GW experience puts students in touch with the nation's capital.

    Reasons to Recruit at GW

Our students are among the nation's brightest and most well-rounded. GW's exciting faculty and programs provide an atmosphere conducive to learning in the nation's capital, where there are abundant opportunities to discover and experience the world.

As a result, GW graduates bring a unique perspective and wealth of experience to the workplace.

    The Basics:

GW is the largest institution of higher education in the District of Columbia.

The diverse student population includes undergraduate, graduate and professional students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, 139 foreign countries, and from a variety of ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds.

GW is one of the top private universities in the number of National Merit Finalists enrolled in the freshman class.

About 80% of GW students gain career-related experience through internships, co-op jobs, part-time jobs, and volunteer positions while they are in school.

The George Washington University's Career Center is your link to the University's students and alumni from its schools of Arts and Sciences, Business and Public Management, Education and Human Development, Engineering and Applied Sciences, International Affairs, Public Health and Health Services, and Health Sciences. We have developed an array of programs and services that can be customized to suit your unique needs as a GW recruiter.

    On-Campus Recruiting

On-Campus Recruiting serves employers interested in recruiting students for full-time, professional positions following graduation. At GW, we've streamlined the campus interview process by using GWork, a Web-based interview tracking and scheduling system. Participating employers can use this system to post an available position, receive resumes from qualified students, and select those students with whom the employer wishes to meet. Interviews are conducted here in the Career Center.

We continue to offer 100% pre-selection, which allows employers to identify those candidates who best fit their needs.

Interviews are generally scheduled in 30-minute intervals, permitting up to 12 student interviews in one day.

The On-Campus Recruiting Program is free and runs during the fall semester from September through November, and during the spring semester from February through April. Employers should make arrangements to participate at least six weeks prior to the preferred interview date.

Occasionally, employers may wish to interview students at their company site. These employers can utilize our Resume Collection Program. Student resumes are collected and forwarded to employers, who then contact students directly to schedule an on-site interview.

The Career Center staff can assist employers who wish to coordinate an Information Session prior to interviews to familiarize students with the organization and the positions available. These sessions may be open to just those students selected to interview, or to a larger student population. At the employer's request, the Career Center staff will reserve a room for the presentation and make arrangements for any refreshments and audio-visual equipment required.
